Purpose
Bet, the second letter of the Hebrew alphabet, has the numeric value of two, representing opposites: dark and light, night and day.
Bet is the first letter of the Torah, beraishit. Bet means “house,” referring to G-d’s desire to have a dwelling place in this world. Bet represents the feminine aspect of the soul represented by the house and the power of pregnancy.
Bet’ s three sided form symbolizes man’s ability to choose between good and evil.
