Vision
Ayin, the sixteenth letter of the Hebrew alphabet, has the numeric value of seventy. The Torah teaches that seventy root souls originally descended into Egypt, there are seventy nations, and the numeric value of the word Yayin (wine) is also seventy.
Ayin means eye, color, fountain; in Aramaic: sheep. The eye symbolizes G-d’s ever watching gaze, “behold He neither slumbers nor sleeps.”
Its form symbolizes the two eyes and the optic nerves entering the brain and the vessel of the nun receives God’s blessing, the vav.
