Motherhood
Dalet, the fourth letter of the Hebrew alphabet, has the numerical value of four. The four Matriarchs of the Jewish Nation were Sara, Rivkah (Rebecca), Leah, and Rachel. There are four cups of wine at the Pesach (Passover) Seder, four languages of freedom, and the four elements.
Dalet, the root of the letter’s name, means poor and door. Dalet represents selflessness and humility. Dalet is the door through which the humble enter into creating a dwelling place for G-d in this world, a dirah btachtonim.
The lunar cycle is closely connected to the letter Dalet, as the moon receives its light from another, the sun.
