Aspiration
Lamed, the twelfth number in the Hebrew alphabet, has the numeric value of thirty. The number thirty corresponds to the moon and her cycle, as it consists of thirty days. Lamed also represents the female cycle, the thirty tzadikim (righteous) in whose merit the world stands, thirty generations from Avraham (Abraham) to the destruction of the First Temple, and the thirty levels of kingship.
Lamed is formed like a tower, and is the only letter that soars above the line. Lamed represents man’s aspiration to understand the universe and to learn about G-d., as well as Divine inspiration.
